Josephine Reclining

Josephine, Marie, Rose, Empress of the French (1763-1814) was a widow with two children, Eugene and Hortense, when she met and later married Napoleon Bonaparte, then a little known artillery officer.

She had made her way in society by use of her wit and charm but Josephine was faithless while her husband was away fighting and was forced to consent to a divorce in 1809.
